Bailey Finch is a lot of things. She’s twenty-four, she lives in downtown Los Angeles, and she currently works as a lowly Calendar Editor for Come – one of LA’s nauseatingly trendy Love & Relationships magazines. Think Cosmo on methamphetamines. It’s a role that largely involves taking coffee orders and making copies.
She is also woefully body-conscious, clinically anxious, and she has a lot of ideas about a lot of things.
Most are terrible, some are good – but this one – this one might just be f#cking insane.
It starts with an interview – a swiped interview, technically.
The subject? Elijah Mattox: The Biggest Pornstar Of All-Time, Probably
An interview that turns into an article pitch.
An article pitch that turns into a story.
A story that will very likely blow up in her face.
The funny part? She really starts to like him. Oh – and she’s also a virgin. Because, you know, virginity is still a thing.
My Review:
This book had such potential however I felt the middle to end fell flat. The whole relationship felt rushed. Everything seemed to happen over a short period of time and I felt the story and the characters deserved more.
I expected this to be full of sex and while there are some elements it’s mostly talk. Our main characters don’t engage in anything before marriage.
What did keep me guessing was whether this is based on a true story given the author’s pseudonym and hints that are dropped. I freely admit to googling to see if there was anyone who fit the descriptions. No luck but a part of me likes to think it is true. An amazing true love story if it is.
I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
