Blurb:

There’s nothing like a near death experience to make a guy reassess his life. And that’s exactly what nightclub owner Logan McCabe decides to do, starting with looking up the girl he spent one wild night with eleven years ago, right before his life turned to crap. He spent a year fantasizing about her. Now he’s ready to see how reality matches up.

Abigail Parker is a perfectionist. She’s only strayed from the straight and narrow once in her life, on her eighteenth birthday. It was supposed to be one wild night with a totally unsuitable man before she settled into her sensible future. Instead it changed her life forever.

Logan might still be the sexiest man Abigail has ever seen, but a dirty-talking, tattooed, ex-con is the last thing she needs in her perfect life. He claims she’s his fantasy girl, but what he doesn’t know is she’s also the mother of his ten-year old daughter…

My Review:

This was a mediocre read at best. There was nothing special that made it stand out from all the other romances with similar tropes. I didn’t feel the chemistry between the two main characters and difficult situations were just resolved too easily. For example Abigail’s parents getting back together after ten years apart and from my understanding it was quite a dysfunctional relationship to begin with.

The attempt to make the refusal of a promotion a feminist issue was a major issue with me. Abby is a police sergeant trying to make detective. Her superiors frown on her associating with a convicted felon whose father has a serious criminal past. Yeah it sucks because Logan is reformed and made a mistake but I would have my concerns too if someone who is supposed to uphold law and order could be placed in a complicated situation where she has to choose between doing her job right or turning a blind eye to possible legal issues.

I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. *Blurb and cover image via Goodreads.
