For weeks, the immortal warrior Aeron has sensed an invisible female presence. An angel-demon-assassin has been sent to kill him. Or has she? Olivia claims she fell from the heavens, giving up immortality because she couldn’t bear to harm him. But trusting—and falling for—Olivia will endanger them all. So how has this mortal with the huge blue eyes already unleashed Aeron’s darkest passion?
With an enemy hot on his trail and his faithful demon companion determined to remove Olivia from his life, Aeron is trapped between duty and consuming desire. Worse still, a new executioner has been sent to do the job Olivia wouldn’t…
My Review:
While not my favourite couple of the series Aeron and Olivia are perfect together. They are dark and light, each one needs the other. I wasn’t a big fan of Legion as a character but what she has to endure is genuinely horrific. I love getting to see the POV of other characters and not just our leading man and lady.
This book has some of the hottest sex scenes in the series. It’s explosive. It also has the most heartbreaking scene that is so beautifully raw as the Lords are faced with losing one of their own. I won’t go into details as it will spoil the story.
What I love about this series besides the fact that we get a new couple each time is the fact that while the overarching plot still continues, the most immediate danger is dealt with.
This is a fantastic series, and I have read all the current published works. I’m enjoying reacquainting myself with the characters, but the latter books are definitely better as the universe expands.

No I wasn’t as keen on this one as some of the others either. In fact, I’m taking a break from the series for a while.

It does get a bit repetitive but I have to say the last three published are some of my favorites

I read an ARC of Darkest Assassin last year which was why I thought I’d give them a try again. Would I be completely lost if I jumped in from that point instead?

Not really since each book is a new couple
