Wrangling His Sexy Assistant is the second book in the Beckett Brothers series by Leslie North. While each book features one individual couple, there are spoilers in that there are interactions with the previous couple.
The book opens on a bachelor auction with the town vet Hunter the subject of a bidding war. To save him from an ardent bidder, his veterinary assistant Kit wins the sale in exchange for the opportunity to work on large animals. Hunter knows he should limit the time he spends with Kit because acting on his growing attraction is frowned on. But when they deal with a problematic case, the adrenaline and joy at a successful outcome leads to a passionate kiss.
This was an acceptable read. I have read several of Ms North’s books in the last few weeks, and they follow a predictable pattern. The main characters are very attracted to each other, but for one reason or another, they don’t want to act on that chemistry. Reading similar books can lead to burning out with the genre, and that’s what happened here for me.
