The second instalment in the runaway brides’ trilogy and it doesn’t disappoint. There was real chemistry between the two lovers and while Angus was definitely a neglectful husband prior to coming to America, he redeems himself beautifully in his attentiveness to Maddie and his need to protect her. I loved the camaraderie between Angus and Thomas and felt it really added to the story.
This was a roller-coaster for emotion. I went from feeling fear and sadness to laughter and joy. The story developed at a good pace with plenty of plot twists and adventure to keep the plot going. Kaki Warner is very talented at creating characters who hold our interest and leaves us wanting to know more about each character she creates.
