This is the first in the runaway brides’ trilogy and features a mail order bride, Edwina, travelling from war-torn Georgia with her half-sister, Prudence, to start a new life. Minor deceptions from both bride and groom lead to a rocky start to their marriage.
I liked how it wasn’t love at first sight between Edwina and Declan. Their love grew over time with the help of a rowdy bunch of children.
It’s not just the main characters that draw you in, the supporting characters are well-developed and you are left eager to explore their own individual tales.
This was my first Kaki Warner book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more of her creations.
