10 years ago college graduate Piper Kerman delivered a suitcase full of drug money for her then girlfriend. She moved on with her life, got a job, has a serious boyfriend and has a supportive family. now she has face the consequences of her actions. She is sentenced to 15 months at a federal correctional facility in Danbury. This book follows her journey from her initial intake to her eventual release.
While I love the tv series based on this book I felt let down by the book. Piper Kerman was completely self absorbed. She showed a complete lack of understanding of other peoples issues and was quite frankly bigoted.
Even though she herself engaged in homosexual relationships she displays homophobia in her use of slurs.
My recommendation is to not waste your time reading this book and instead watch the tv series which is far more entertaining
